Laser Alignment....
In spite of self-aligning bearings and flexible couplings, problems due to misalignment are nearly as common as those due to unbalance.
Laser alignment complements our machinery balancing and vibration analysis services; and is the most accurate and quickest method of resolving misalignment problems.
Laser alignment will help extend the life of bearings, gears, seals, and other machinery components.
Laser alignment applications include:
- Gas and steam turbines
- Diesel and gas engine generating sets
- Couplings and bearings in gearboxes and generators
- Compressor shafts
- Pump couplings, seals and bearings
- Drives/cardan shafts
- Rollers in paper and board machines
- Rollers and chocks in steel rolling machines
- Printing machines
Our laser alignment service capablilities include:
- Use of alignment "target" values for vertical and horizontal offset and angularity values.
- Calculation of target offset and angularity values when they are unknown.
This is done by laser aligning machinery "cold", and then starting the machine and running until operating temperatures are reached. The laser is quickly set up, and "hot" alignment values recorded. The machine is then realigned in this condition, and the alignment changes are documented for future reference. When this machine or a similar machine needs alignment again, the target values can be used when the "cold" alignment is performed.
- Measurements of "soft-foot", or vertical movement of machine feet, when mounting bolts are loosened. This condition can cause great difficulty if not recognized and corrected.
- Alignment of shafts that are separated by spool pieces up to 12 feet in length.
